A paralegal is a non lawyer. They generally work with lawyers and help them with the case, filing and organizing data, collecting information and points of law. They are sort of research assistants working with lawyers, learning the ropes and helping with the legal procedures, varying laws in jurisdictions and more. Paralegals may choose to specialize in specific areas like real estate, banking, and criminal law. Contempt of court is any act which is done that is insulting to a court of law or the judge. Contempt of court can be committed by anyone attending a proceeding at court or by publication or writers reporting on it, the lawyers involved as well as the accused or an audience member. There are various rules regarding what is allowed in a court of law and what is not, flouting these rules results in contempt of court.
