Ph.D. in Human Services - Self-Designed

The Self-Designed Ph.D. program in Human Services gives students the freedom to design their own specialization. Like other self-designed Programs in Walden University, the program must be approved and developed in consultation by the faculty chair. This guides the student in finding the best subjects that fit the students' needs and at the same time, keeps the specialization grounded on the foundation of Walden education. The program introduces students to different multi-cultural communication situations, enabling them to understand and respect diverse populations and be open to social diversity. Ethical responsibility is another topic that is given importance in the course. This is because Human Service requires leadership abilities and service-oriented ideas in learning. This is why the Human Services program was created. It was designed for working professionals who are interested in expanding their knowledge in the biological, cognitive, psychosocial and affective aspects of human development. Students are introduced to essential theories and practices that lead them to effective service in both the micro and macro levels of society.
