Master of Science in Criminal Justice

The Master of Science in Criminal Justice program is designed to prepare students for leadership roles in the criminal justice agencies. The program consists of 11 courses or 33 semester hours and a final capstone project. Each student has the flexibility to complete the course in one year, full time or part time for two years. Through this program, students can continue their academic education on a doctoral level with a solid foundation on criminal justice.
MS in Criminal Justice covers topics spanning not only the criminal justice system but also law, criminology in general, and even public policy. It enables students a thorough understanding of crime as a social phenomenon and determine the different causes of crime, and the factors affecting criminal behavior
This program offers students a solid background in theory and research, through the study of the different issues in law enforcement, both current and past. Discussions also cover corrections as well as courts and juvenile justice.
Holders of this degree can pursue a PHD in Criminal Justice and can become detectives, probation officers as well as directors of corrections.
