Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration - Law and Public Policy (Course-Based)

The Law and Public Policy specialization examines how legal decisions and the law have significant influence on creating public policy. Students in this program examine the relationship between law and public policy, gain solid background in legal concepts and current trends, and learn how to access vital legal information for the public policy practice.
Being the first fully online public administration school in the US, Walden University's School of Public Policy and Administration offers flexible graduate programs that provide practical knowledge and skills, and enhances one's problem-solving skills and cultural competence.
Walden's course-based curriculum is comprised of structured online programs that, depending on the student's performance, will have him or her eligible for graduation in three years. Completion requirements include a total of 82 quarter credit hours including a dissertation, a Professional Development Plan and Program of Study, 20 days of residency, and a minimum of 8-9 quarters enrolment depending on the transfer of awarded credits. Specialized course topics include Fundamentals of Law and Public Policy, Legal Research for Policy Practitioners, Contemporary Cases and Issues in the Courts.
