LeTourneau University

The LeTourneau University was established in 1946 by R.G. LeTourneau as a Technical institute, located in Longview, Texas. It was established to provide education for the ones that returned from war during World War II. The initial years at the University were mostly male populated and held classes every alternate day to encourage its students to work at the LeTourneau Incorporated manufacturing plant.

In 1961, it began a co-educational institute and expanded its courses. The Letourneau College began a University in 1989, and witnessed the development of an MBA program as well. The University was certified by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges and by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education.

Programs

The LeTourneau University offers undergraduate programs with over a thousand students on campus. It includes courses like engineering, computer science, business, aeronautics etc. It also offers business management courses at Dallas, Tyler, Houston, Bedford and Longview. There are more than 60 academic courses like technology, arts, business, sciences, kinesiology etc.

Online courses

The University upholds it standards for its online courses, to provide equal and wholesome experience for it online students. The course follows a format that is created to complete modules on a weekly basis, giving students enough time to dedicate towards their careers parallel to their course. The modules include enough material to cover all aspects that one experiences as an on campus student.

The online courses provide a real time experience with technical experts and assistance for any other concerns to help students individually. Students are encouraged to apply all through the year and are mostly an 8-week course. The online courses are also extended to individuals internationally, however expect the fees to be paid in full and in advance, the students are also expected to submit all assignments and evaluation is thorough. Students are also expected to accept the delivery of their syllabus through UPS.

Sports

The LeTourneau University's Yellow Jackets a 6-men and 7-women group compete at sports like basketball, golf, tennis, softball, volleyball etc. "Buzz" represents a mascot for the university with its colors - royal blue and gold. Intra-group competitions are also hosted, encouraging its students to form groups - come up with names, logos, t-shirts etc.

Student Life

The University being a Christina institution has Chapel services that are made compulsory for all students to attend; a five minute prayer is also held before commencement of every class each day by the faculty or a student of the class. It also encourages Greek Life on campus. 'Hootenanny' a traditional talent show hosting a wide range of fun activities and shows that gives the opportunity for all students and faculty members to participate.
